Ultimate Industrial Automation Guide – Sofcon Training
Industrial Automation: A technology wherein we are focused in designing of control system for our machines and devices by providing brain to the machines. As brain plays the major role in our body so does the Controllers and Processors; but in Industry we are dealing with high voltage and current thus there is a high harmonics all around. So we can’t proceed with the normal controllers and processor. Here comes the role of industrial controllers such as PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), PAC (Programmable Automation Controller), DCS (Distributed Control System), CNC (Computerized Numeric Control) etc.
Although brain plays the major role of taking decisions but we require many other Vital Organs such as Heart which pumps blood throughout body; so does the PCC panel in industry, we have hands and foot for motion; industry contains motors, valves, actuators etc., we have sensory organ for feedback; in industry we have sensors such as temperature, pressure, level, flow, weight, pH sensors etc.
These all are vital part along with some other organ parts of Industry like: HMI- HUMAN MACHINE INTERFACE, SCADA- SUPERVISORY CONTROL AND DATA ACQUISITION, Motor Drives, Soft-Starters, Switch-Gears, Data Loggers, other meters, alarms, indicators etc.
Now along with these important parts; now a day’s we are moving onto necessary parts like Internet based RTU’s – remote terminal units for the control of operation from a remote location. This technology is also known as IIOT (Industrial Internet of Things). This would help us in building an easy surveillance, monitoring and control of process along with much improved version of security.
Recent Developments in the field of Automation may include Technologies like Image processing and fuzzy logic- ANN (Artificial Neural Network) etc. and are some of the emerging part of Industrial Automation which focuses on high end yield of the product with improved accuracy.
Hereby I want to conclude with one of the most important part of industrial growth in which today we require to focus upon minimum Power Consumption, Maximum Yield, Application of Renewable sources of energy, and Load Balancing and Load Calculation methods in industry to improve the efficiency and reliability of the system.
